The Department of Primary Care (Departamento de Atenção Básica - DAB) is linked with the Secretariat of Healthcare, in the Ministry of Health. Family Health, is a strategic priority for the Ministry of Health in organizing Primary Care, and has as its main challenge, the promotion and reorientation of health practices and services into a continual and integrated structure, bringing these services closer to family and as a result, improving the quality of life for Brazilians. It incorporates and reaffirms the basic principles of Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS) – universality, decentralization, integration, and community participation – through the registration and links with its users. Conselho Nacional de Secretários de Saúde (CONASS)
The National Council of Health Secretariats (CONASS) is a private, non-profit entity that follows the principles established by the direct public and led by the Secretariats and their legal designates, such as official managers of the Health Secretariats of the States and the Federal District. Within its mandate and competencies, CONASS, established in 1982, maintains exchange initiatives with national and foreign entities with interest in the healthcare sector.
